Hyderabad To Shamshabad, The Story . . . . .

THE CITY OF NAWABS, HYDERABAD GETS A NEW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

  • Hyderabad was founded in the year 1591 by Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah, the fifth sultan of Qutb Shahi dynasty.

  • It is famous for its rich mixed culture and historical tradition spanning over 400 years.

  • It is one of the fastest growing Indian city and has emerged as a strong commercial, industrial and technology center. It gives a picture of glimpses of its past royalty.

  • Hyderabad began its history in the fortress city of Golconda. Shortage of drinking water, and regular epidemics of cholera and plague persuaded Qutub Shah to venture outward to establish new city with the Charminar at its centre. Charminar the historical monument was built after plague was eradicated from the city.

  • Hyderabad's fame, geographical location and Golconda's wealth attracted Moghul Emperor Aurengzeb who captured Golconda after a long battle in 1687.

  • As the Moghul empire deteriorated and became weak, the viceroy, Asaf Jah I proclaimed himself the Nizam and established independence rule of the Deccan.

  • The rule of Nizams lasted seven generations. During this period Hyderabad grew both culturally and economically. Hyderabad became the formal capital of the kingdom.
